Food products: Law on Mandatory requirement of "Date printing on Packed Food"

The Law to write both  "Date of Manufacturing & date of expiry" on all packed food products was made mandatory few years back by Indian Govt. toprotect the interests of Consumer & their health. Many developed economies just have it mandatory to write only "Date of expiry/ Best before date", as the declaration are provided by scientific establishment of Proper shelf-life for each product.
The result is, Consumers go more by "Date of Mfg" & never bother for "Best before date" demanding products which are few days old only,considering they might have gone inferior.It is just not possible to offer Freshest In the modern world with producing factories & markets quite far from each other.
Consequentially, huge unsold Food inventories go waste  at some stage of  the  supply chain which is a criminal wastage for a Food starved nation. Needless to say ultimately the cost of such wastage would be taken out from Consumer's pocket only & loaded in product's prices .
Ultimately, what it is meaning is this unwise & short-sighted step of Govt. is damaging, and not helping anyone including Consumer as well & adding to the  misery. Finally the result is loss of useful food & higher prices.More hunger & more poverty.
